Our History
Founded in 2008, the Maryland Umbrella Group (MUG) is a Prince George’s County 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located on the campus of St. Margaret of Scotland. Our mission is to provide community supports that strengthen families, students, and seniors. Over the past fifteen years, including through the challenges of COVID-19, MUG has remained committed to serving our most vulnerable and valued community members by expanding access to essential resources and support services. We are dedicated to strengthening communities through education, advocacy, and connection to critical programs. Through collaborative partnerships, we empower individuals and families, foster independence, and create opportunities for lifelong learning—ensuring residents feel informed, supported, and confident as they navigate everyday life.
